VISION VITALITY™ INGREDIENTS
Lutein / Meso Zeaxanthin The primary natiral pigments that form the protective macular density in the retina (free form lutein). Meso zeaxanthin is the strongest antioxidant of these. High dose lutein and zeaxanthin significantly increases macular pigment density. (obana 2020). Zeaxanthin also supports phagocytosis in the aging retina. Phagocytosis removes cellular waste material (reduces amounts of lipofuscin) and is essential for retina health (Olchawa 2020). Contains approximately 20mg of meso-zeaxanthin in a 200mg complex.
Lycium Barbarum support maintenance on blood-retina-barrier for health of retinal neurons. Regulates producton of Amyloid-Beta. (Xue-Song Mi, et al 2020) Neuroprotective of neurons during chronic ocular hypertension. Protect retinal ganglion cells due to oxidative stress, (Liu et al 2020). Significantly promotes photoreceptor survival.(Liu 2018). Further research indicates that Lycium Barbarum is protective against Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and Diabetic Retinopathy. (Neelam et al 2021)
Black Currant / Bilberry Dark berries contain high amounts of anthocyanins. These are colorful antioxidants which provide anitoxidant support for the retina. Most importantly, is the C3G anthocyanin. In studies, C3G attenuated light induced damage of the retina. (Wang 2019).
Carnosic Acid - Crosses blood brain barrier and increases endogenous antioxidants (via Nrf2) to protect the retina. Shown to protect against light-induced retinal (photoreceptor) degeneration.(Rezaie 2012 / Wong 2017). Protects against acrylamide induced oxidatiive damage of retina. Acrylamide is a neurotoxin which is formed in starch foods and is commonly consumed. (Albalawi 2018).
Retina G™ Ingredients
Apigenin - Offers added protection by increasing Nrf2 amd autophagy. Autophagy is the removal of damaged cellular debris. The upregulation of autophagy, Reserach suggest that invoking Nrf2 and autophagy may be effective treatmenst for macular degeneration.(Abokyi 2020) Regulates microglial inflammation in treating photoreceptor degeneration (Chumsakul 2020)
Berberine - Protects retinal epithelium Cells by activating AMPK. AMPK inhibits oxidative stress of the retina and restores abnormal changes to the epithelium cells. (Li 2018) Protects against light-induced retinal degenerations. (Song 2016) May act as a therapeutic against Diabetic Retinopathy through deactivating the NF‑κB signaling pathway (Zhai 2020, Yin 2021)
Saffron - May offer protection against macular / retinal degeneration by neuroprotective pathways which are not the same as general antixodiants. (Maggi 2020) Saffron greatly reduces microglia activation and migration. (Di Marco 2019). For experimental diabetic retinal degeneration, saffron offers protection (Skourtis 2020)
Curcumin - Due to the pleiotropic nature of curucmin, curucmin may provide benefit to a spectrum of retinal disorders. Curcumin prevents oxidative stress, is anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor. (Lopez-Malo 2020) The curcumin metabolite Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC), may provide even longer lasting benefits against eye diseases. (Kao 2021.) Curcugen®, in RetinaG™ enhances THC bioavailability by a factor of 31xs (Dolcas-Biotech 2021)
Fisetin - Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) progression is related to the build-up of senescent cells. Senescent cells cause loss of cellular function, increase in inflammation and destruction of the retina. Fisetin is a senolytic, which supports removal of senescent cells. (Lee 2021)
